The Different Types & Kinds of Ukulele Styles
Which Kind of Uke Style is right for you?
Picking the right ukulele can be a challenge sometimes. When you are getting started you want to look at all of the different types of uke's out there and ask yourself this question "How serious am I about being an awesome uke player?" If your answer is "I'm not really that serious" then get yourself a beginner ukulele (usually a soprano uke) that costs somewhere between $50 and $100 and a lesson book and be on your way. If your response is a little more serious than that you have to start asking yourself some other quesitons:
- "What is my budget?"
- "How much do I want to invest into a future with the uke?"
- "What is my vocal range?"
The concert ukulele is often very popular with teenagers and grown women with voices that are a little more mature but are not comfortable singing with the lower tenor. The tenor is popular with most men who are a little more comfortable with the lower ranges of teh tenor ukelele. The baritone ukulele is a different kind of animal. It does not follow the same chord patterns as the other 3 and is usually learned by itself since you cannot apply chord knowledge from the other 3 ukuleles to the baritione. This is popular with bass singers.
